Taconic PCB Materials Identify RF Materials from the Complete Grade List
Based on common selection requirements for the TLY, TLX, and RF series, and referring to the current product documentation for AGC Multi Material, verify the material composition, electrical specifications, and availability.
Taconic: Materials and Product Selection
This information is based on the manufacturer’s current documentation and the versions confirmed by both parties. The model descriptions do not constitute a commitment regarding real-time inventory or direct substitution; thickness, copper foil, and supply specifications are subject to project confirmation.
TLY-5
Lightweight fiberglass fabric reinforcement material, originally designed by the manufacturer for applications requiring a low dielectric constant. Should be evaluated in conjunction with thickness, copper foil, and the actual RF structure.
TLX-8
Glass-fiber-reinforced PTFE material, suitable for candidate evaluation in antenna and RF projects. The full suffix must not be omitted.
RF-35TC
Ceramic-filled, glass-fiber-reinforced PTFE material that balances low loss with thermal management. Thermal design still requires an evaluation of the entire board layout.
When selecting a model, be sure to focus on these three points
Verify the suffix and version
The designations RF-35, RF-35TC, RF-35HTC, etc., must not be used interchangeably; inquiries must specify the exact model number and include the original manufacturer’s documentation.
Match Bands and Test Methods
Record the test frequencies and methods for Dk and Df along with their intended design applications to confirm which parameters can be used for simulation.
Machining and Thermal Management
Verify dimensional stability, hole treatment, bonding systems, and heat dissipation boundaries to develop a project process plan.
From Candidate Materials to Production Materials
01 · Lock Data Version
Record the complete part number, suffix, original factory data sheet, and design objectives, and list any uncertain parameters as items to be confirmed.
02 · Review of Stacking and Processes
Based on the core board, bonding material, copper foil, circuit patterns, and via structures, confirm the available specifications and manufacturing conditions.
03 · Replace after confirmation
Any changes to materials must be compared against electrical, thermal, mechanical, and documentation requirements; once confirmed by the design team, they must be incorporated into the production documentation.
Submit this information to minimize back-and-forth during the selection process.

- Delivery Requirements
- Quantity, target delivery date, inspection requirements, and required material certificates.
Common Selection Issues
Can I just request a quote for Taconic panels?
This can serve as a preliminary request, but a final quote and manufacturing will require the complete grade, thickness, copper foil, and quantity.
Are the TLY and TLX series interchangeable?
Evaluations should be based on specific models, material composition, electrical parameters, and mechanical requirements; components cannot be directly interchanged based solely on series names.
What should I do if there are version discrepancies in the data?
Based on the version of the original manufacturer’s documentation specified by the design team and confirmed by both parties, clarify any discrepancies first, and then determine the stacking and feeding specifications.
Review the materials, then proceed with prototyping and production
