Rogers PCB Materials First, identify the material system; then, evaluate RF performance
For RF, microwave, and antenna design, this document distinguishes the material and processing characteristics of different Rogers product series based on operating frequency bands, loss budgets, and lamination requirements. Shenzhen Jingpeng Electronics reviews manufacturing proposals based on specified grades and design documents.
Rogers: Materials and Product Selection
This information is based on the manufacturer’s current documentation and the versions confirmed by both parties. The model descriptions do not constitute a commitment regarding real-time inventory or direct substitution; thickness, copper foil, and supply specifications are subject to project confirmation.
RO4003C / RO4350B
The RO4000 series uses a hydrocarbon resin and ceramic system; it is not made of PTFE. When selecting a product, verify the complete part number, flame-retardant requirements, and copper foil version.
RO3003 / RO3006 / RO3010
The RO3000 series belongs to the ceramic-filled PTFE family. Different dielectric grades must be verified individually; electrical parameters cannot be assumed to be the same based solely on the series name.
Copper Foil and Multilayer Versions
Copper foil from the same series, as well as its thickness and structure, can affect design and processing. For specifications such as LoPro, consult the corresponding version of the documentation and clarify procurement requirements.
When selecting a model, be sure to focus on these three points
Design Dk and Test Dk
Specify the sources, frequencies, and methods used in the simulation, and avoid directly comparing values obtained under different test conditions.
Copper Foil and Circuit Losses
In addition to reviewing copper foil roughness, trace geometry, and dielectric thickness, the evaluation goes beyond simply comparing the material’s Df.
Mixed Pressing and Hole Machining
When assembling FR-4 laminates, verify the bonding materials, thermal expansion, lamination, and via wall treatment methods.
From Candidate Materials to Production Materials
01 · Lock Data Version
Record the complete part number, suffix, original factory data sheet, and design objectives, and list any uncertain parameters as items to be confirmed.
02 · Review of Stacking and Processes
Based on the core board, bonding material, copper foil, circuit patterns, and via structures, confirm the available specifications and manufacturing conditions.
03 · Replace after confirmation
Any changes to materials must be compared against electrical, thermal, mechanical, and documentation requirements; once confirmed by the design team, they must be incorporated into the production documentation.

Common Selection Issues
Are all Rogers sheets made of PTFE?
No. The hydrocarbon/ceramic system used in the RO4000 is different from the PTFE system used in the RO3000; material and processing instructions must correspond to the specific series.
Are the RO4003C and RO4350B directly interchangeable?
Substitutions cannot be made based solely on similar names. It is necessary to verify the electrical specifications, flame-retardant properties, copper foil, and lamination structure against the customer’s specified requirements, and have them confirmed by the design team.
Are all thicknesses in stock?
Deliveries are confirmed based on the complete grade, material thickness, copper foil specifications, and quantity; this page does not constitute a commitment regarding inventory or delivery times.
